About this ride
The Ha Giang Loop is a roughly 350-kilometre circuit through the far northern tip of Vietnam, where limestone towers climb straight out of the rice terraces and the road is carved into the side of the cliff. It is the ride we grew up on, and the one we know best.
Four days is the sweet spot. Three days works, but you spend it moving. With four you get the whole loop plus the Du Gia back-road — a long stretch of dirt, river crossings and villages that almost nobody rides — and still have time to stop when the light is good.
You ride your own bike the entire way, behind a guide who was born on these passes. Luggage goes ahead in the support vehicle, so you carry nothing but a day bag.
Moderate. Mostly sealed mountain road with one full day of dirt. Comfortable for confident riders; beginners are welcome on the mini bike.

- Lung Cu flag towerRide to the northernmost point of Vietnam, close enough to see into China.
- Homestay nightsSleep in Hmong and Tay family homes, eat what the household eats, drink the corn wine.

Before you book
- How do I get to Ha Giang City to start the tour?
- Overnight sleeper buses and limousine vans run from Hanoi to Ha Giang City every evening, taking about 6–7 hours. We can book a seat for you and meet you at the drop-off. Most riders arrive on the morning the tour starts and leave on the evening it ends.
- Can I ride the loop as a beginner?
- Yes, on the mini bike. It is a semi-automatic that anyone comfortable on two wheels can manage, and the guide sets the pace for the group. If you have never ridden at all, tell us in advance and we will run a training session in Ha Giang City before departure.
- Is 4 days better than 3?
- For riding, yes. The 3-day version drops the Du Gia dirt section and compresses Ma Pi Leng into a transit day. Four days gets you the full circuit, the best off-road stretch, and time to actually stop and look at it.
